Many of my friends want to learn the Microsoft SQL server BI tools. They told me several time to demonstrate the power of BI tools, so this tropics is dedicated for all of my friends who wants to learn it. BI tools includes
1. Microsoft SQL server Integration services [SSIS]
2. Microsoft SQL server Analytical services [SSAS]
3. Microsoft SQL server reporting services [SSRS]
Before learning these tools we have to know the sold concept about data warehousing. What is data warehousing and why we use these tools to solve the purpose of data ware dousing.
Short concept about Data warehousing:
In computing, a data warehouse (DW) is a database used for reporting and analysis. The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems. The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the DW for reporting.
A data warehouse maintains its functions in three layers: staging, integration, and access.
Staging is used to store raw data for use by developers. The integration layer is used to integrate data and to have a level of abstraction from users. The access layer is for getting data out for users.
Data warehouses can be subdivided into data marts. Data marts store subsets of data from a warehouse.
This definition of the data warehouse focuses on data storage. The main source of the data is cleaned, transformed, catalogued and made available for use by managers and other business professionals for data mining, online analytical processing, market research and decision support. However, the means to retrieve and analyze data, to extract, transform and load data, and to manage the data dictionary are also considered essential components of a data warehousing system. Many references to data warehousing use this broader context. Thus, an expanded definition for data warehousing includes business intelligence tools, tools to extract, transform and load data into the repository, and tools to manage and retrieve metadata.
The concept behind data warehousing is critical, need proper understanding of data… etc but using tolls is quite easy. The proper use of the tools is important to solve the specified problem. I try to demonstrate each and every tool as simple as possible.
As my next tropics I am going to discuss the "Microsoft SQL server Integration services [SSIS]". Please be continuing with my next blogs. Hope it will be much more intersecting.
To be continued…

Yes, this blog is consists of high-quality ingredients. We are expecting more and more without waiting more please. That should be benefitted us.
ReplyDeleteIn this blog, if you add some brief context about the actual scope or reason behind the evolution of BI apart from the Transactional history, summary in the perspective of reporting. It is my sole opinion.
